sobees lite Upgrade - Adding Retweet API and Improving the Performances

We just released a new version of sobees lite ( This version adds the Retweet API of Twitter, although you will still be able to retweet in the way you used to do. When selecting the Retweet button, the Tweet will now be automatically copied in the text entry box without any modification. If you simply hit send, it will use the Retweet API and add the avatar of the person who initially wrote the tweet at the top of your tweet.

But if you click within the text, the usual “RT @username” will be added in front of the text so that you will be able to edit the tweet before sending it (which is exactly what you were used to).

Retweets also appear in the timeline. And if a Tweet contains a URL, you can see the real link and an extract from the website thanks to Facterylabs.

Additional changes:

  • Better performances
  • Small changes in terms of design
  • Link to map for geolocalized Tweets
  • Home column in Twitter fixed
  • Facebook events fixed

sobees web and sobees lite now supporting LinkedIn

We are proud to announce that we are now supporting a new great service: LinkedIn. With the addition of LinkedIn, most of you will be able to create your perfect dashboard with all or some of the services we support.
We have been part of the beta of LinkedIn APIs and would like to thank the team at LinkedIn. They were really reactive and professional, giving us an amazing support almost round the clock. And the APIs are so well implemented that we could keep the development of our WPF and Silverlight versions in sync and offer exactly the same functionalities in both applications.

LinkedIn features available in sobees lite and sobees web:

  • Update your status
  • Get updates: connections updates, status updates, applications updates, jobs posted, groups joined, recommendations and profiles changes. It is possible to show/hide any of these updates and to create a personalized home view easily.

Factery and Twitter lists launched for sobees lite version 0.4

Here is another cool update! Since our last release, we have been working on the Twitter lists which will be available from now on in sobees lite. If you had groups set-up, you can easily turn them into Twitter lists. Simply go to the edition of the list and select “Add to list”. Your new list will be automatically created on Twitter. Within sobees, you also have the possibility to create new lists and manage them.
Beside the lists, we have also added further features to sobees lite such as the possibility to report spam, block a user, reply to all… To discover all the options available, just click on “more” under the Tweet. Or, if you have the options over the avatar, press the arrow down button.

But that’s not all! We have also added FactFinders, which is being developed by Factery, and clearly improves the way you read you Twitter timeline and search Twitter and Friendfeed messages.  It will help you decide whether a link is worth clicking or not by giving you its source and extracts from the website.

sobees lite relies on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and .NET technologies.

We hope you will enjoy these new features!

Major update for sobees web

Although we did not release any update for a while, we have been working hard on sobees web, bringing huge improvements and great new features.

First of all, MySpace has been integrated in the application! Top friends, comments, status and mood updates: everything has been developed to help you make the most of yet another social network.

We also worked on the Facebook module, so that it now includes your full home feed, your profile and that of your friends, your inbox and all the birthdays and events. With these brand new features, it is, by a mile, the best Facebook integration!

Regarding Twitter, the module also got some cool new features, among which the OAuth connection which many of you requested. However, the best for our Twitter and Search modules is the addition of Factery! Its FactFinders will be running in the background as soon as you use these modules, extracting the best facts and enriching the feed. Thanks to this powerful tool, you will be able to see the source of any URL as well as extracts from the website, which will help you decide whether a link is worth clicking or not. This will clearly change the way you check your tweets! In the Real Time Search, you will also get a ranking based on your search query. This will help you filter your tweets in order to focus on what is important and what really matters to you.

We have also added the possibility for you to update your status on multiple services in one go and have improved the way you re-order the services.

sobees web is now available at in English, French, German and Italian.

sobees web uses  Microsoft Silverlight technology and runs on Windows Azure (which also help us connect to social services like Twitter and Myspace which do not allow Silverlight applications to get information directly).

For those of you who were using a previous version, you will need to re-connect to the services. We will make sure that your settings are stored in the cloud in the near future but unfortunately we could not take them over for this major upgrade. If you use sobees web out of the browser, we recommend that you uninstall the application and reinstall it from the website to make sure that you are running it in Azure (which provides better performances and scalability).

As usual, do not hesitate to tweet or mail us if you encounter any issue! Thanks for your continued support.

sobees lite update – version

In addition, we could improve a few aspects of the application and fix other bugs. However, if you still encounter any issue after the update, let us know!

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that, in sobees lite, you have the possibility to manually save and restore your settings. Therefore, head to the Options menu (located at the top right of the application) and select the Advanced tab.
