We've just released a minor update to sobees beta that includes a variety of fixes and improvements.
We have, among others, fixed the bug regarding the “Send report” functionality. You will now be able to report the bugs and issues you come across in sobees directly from the application (Settings > Support).
In addition, a few users thought it to be confusing to have a reply button when reading a DM (which resulted a few times in their replying publicly to a private message). We therefore removed this possibility, but you will of course still be able to reply to a direct message by using the DM button.
We also fixed the API consumption and the @autocomplete.
We hope you will enjoy these improvements, and do not hesitate to use the now well-functioning “Send report” option if you encounter any problem. We will do our best to help you!
Update: We just released another update to fix Facebook connection (API Change) and empty Twitter home.
Our sobees event application aggregates:
- Flickr photo stream
- Google news
- Twitter real time search
- Official RSS feed from the event
- Official Twitter messages from the event
- And your Twitter / Facebook account(s), so that you will be able to update your status on your social networks directly from the application!
However, we wanted to do more than simply aggregate random information regarding the conferences: we wanted to add relevance, which is the reason why we partnered with SalsaDev for these new applications. Concretely, they help us analyze the most recent Twitter messages containing #SXSW / #MIX10 and provide you with the trending keywords of each conference. So, no need to be disappointed if you cannot come to the conference, thanks to sobees for SXSW / MIX10 you will be able to follow the event without having to leave you computer!
And if you do attend SXSW, well, come and visit our booth, we’ll be happy to see you!
We are really excited to announce that sobees has now reached the beta stage. For this brand new version, we rewrote the application from the ground up to make it faster, more reliable - to make it short: sobees is now better than it has ever been!
This beta version provides users with an enhancement of services accessibility and management, including all the popular social networks ( Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn) , as well as search engines such as Factery Labs, One Riot and Twitter search.
More intuitive and easy to use, completed with numerous functionalities and performances and a brand new design, implemented with a tab view and very low on memory, this new version aims to supply users with a full package:
- Possibilities are now broader and much simpler to execute. Light and trendy, the design will help you to feel better with the application.
- As for new features, you can now drag and drop your services columns as well as open a service in full screen mode, translate your tweets within sobees, display factery data and open previews of maps, pictures and conversations.
- Scrolling and memories issues have been resolved. Your navigation throughout the services will resent these changes right away.
- The aggregation of the web services is now much neater and smoother, including all the current trends and specificities of the most popular social networks.
Flexibility, totality and efficiency are what we aimed towards while developing and improving the new version. Download sobees beta to enjoy these enhancements and, as usual, do not hesitate to send us your feedback!
With the beta version, we now have a very good basis to go on developing the application and we will be adding great new services in a few weeks time, so stay tuned!
N.B: If you’re using sobees alpha, we encourage you to try the beta. You will therefore need to download the application from our website again (we will not make an automatic upgrade), but don't worry, you will recover your settings in sobees beta! The alpha and the beta versions can coexist on the same machine, so you can decide if you’re ready to make the switch. However, please note that we will not go on developing the alpha version anymore.
The web version of sobees (which is built on Silverlight) does unfortunately not work properly with the latest version of Firefox (3.6). Since the previous versions of Firefox were, in certain cases, sending wrong mouse coordinates to plugins like Silverlight (the iframe apparently being one of them), Microsoft had implemented a workaround in their code in order to solve the problem. However, Firefox fixed the bug in their latest version (3.6), breaking Microsoft's workaround and creating the issue some of you encountered.
Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working on a solution. We will inform you as soon as we get new information. Sorry for this inconvenience!
A new version of sobees web has just been released! Along with lots of small enhancements, particularly regarding the MySpace and Twitter modules (we added the possibility to report a tweet as spam, to block a user, etc), this release brings three important new features.
Firstly, we have added the Twitter lists! No need to worry about creating groups every time you launch the application anymore: you will now find the exact same lists you created on twitter.com directly into sobees web!
Secondly, we implemented the official Twitter retweet APIs. They will automatically be used as long as you do not click within the text entry field (simply click on “Retweet” and hit “Send”). If you do click within the text, you will recover the old way of retweeting (displaying the “RT @username”).
Lastly, here is a piece of information that will please our Spanish users: the application is now available “en español”!
Thanks to these improvements and new features, sobees web now perfectly matches our desktop application sobees lite again.
We hope you will enjoy this new version and, as usual, we welcome your feedback!
